very spacious, in addition to the 175sqm of the house, guests enjoy a 60 sqm patio full of flowers and a 25 sqm first floor terrace/balcony
very comfortable, peaceful, private, 70% stone built
there is no private parking for the villa but parking is no issue as there is almost always a place outside the house and a municipal public parking for the neigbourhood just arround the corner
the house offers the mildest temperatures even during summer heat waves... you can feel the mountain's cool... you can feel the insulation of the stone... it is better than any airconditioning although you are free to use them (there are 4 in the house)
the house is located in the single most beautiful Cretan village, Archanes in the old neighbourhood. Arcahnes is right next to Heraklion (15km)... even in summer heat waves where the temperatures can easily reach 42 degrees celcius Archanes, and this house, has to offer up to 5 or even 6 degrees lower temperature along with the breese of the mountain... a lot of our guests chose our villa and the general area about this exact thing
Archanes is at an ideal position at the center of Crete, 10 min from the highway leading to Heraklion and also the major beaches in the north. The southern Crete is not much far, either. You can easily and comfortably reach almost any place in the north, center and southern Crete from here, this is an ideal place for day trips that will make your stay very interesting. Archanes is right next to Knossos (10min), the ancient capital of the first European civilization. I guess that this is is what will bring you here. And the nice weather, the light, the colours, of course. And the 4500 years of winery, yes. Maybe the Greek mythology, maybe. And the renowned mediterranean food, most surely. last but not least, it is definitely worth digging into the history of the Crete, Heraklion, Knossos and Archanes a little bit. It is not a coincidence that Zeus himself was born and finally died around here. It also known that Archanes was the vineyard of Knossos. Knossos was the first great ancient capital in Europe, the capital of the Minoan civilization... it was advanced, indeed... Knossos had both hot and cold water in every house. It was also the first place in history where sports were held in an organized manner... yes, it was only the kings fools before that... the Greeks took the idea of organized games from the Minoans, and they later held their own games in a place called Olympia and thus these games became known as Olympic games. A lot to hear, a lot to read, a lot to enjoy here.
