The River Studio is an elegant apartment right on the Haw River Trail, in walking distance to everything in Saxapahaw! This bright space has a full kitchen, full bath, Queen bed, and living room. Set on 5 acres on the Haw River, this property has a private trail that leads to Saxapahaw Lake, the dam, and connects to the Haw River Trail. Perfect for a stay to see a show at the Haw River Ballroom!
Please do not go to the main house for assistance or to be neighborly, but my family is in nearby Chapel Hill, so please reach out if you need anything!
This is a studio apartment over the garage on 5 acres on the Haw River, just above Saxapahaw Dam. A dedicated path takes you to the Haw River Trail from which you have beautiful views of Sax Lake and can walk the 3 mile in and back stretch. (~1.5 miles on this side of the river, then you need to use the road to reach the continuation of the trail below the village, which is another ~1.5 mile stretch.)
Using either the road (no sidewalks for part of it) or the trail (again, partly on the road), it is under a mile to walk to village proper, where you'll find the famous music venue, The Haw River Ballroom, along with restaurants, coffee, baked goods, a general store for groceries, a brewery, and shopping. Halfway to town is Sax Island Park, with another ~1 mile trail loop along the river and a playground.
There is also ample parking at the Island Park and in the Village.
During the summer, you can walk to Saturdays in Saxaphaw, with vendors, food trucks, and live music on the town green.

~ 25 minute drive to Chapel Hill/Carrboro/UNC.
Access to the studio is via exterior staircase. You will have complete access to the entire studio apartment above the garage (but not the garage itself or the owner's closet within the unit.) The studio has a dedicated parking space, a side yard with outdoor dining and a fire pit, and a dedicated trail to the river. If you are in need of additional parking, please check with me so I can direct you to the correct spot.
Built in 2016, the studio apartment has a bedroom "nook" ( a curtained off alcove off the main space)
Though small, it has everything you need:
- A living Room with couch, occasional chair, Smart TV, chest of drawers, and a bluetooth speaker
- A Queen bed with high quality mattress and linens
- A dining table for two
- A built in desk
- A full bathroom with tub, shower, and bidet, stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, towels, and a hair dryer.
- A fully stocked kitchen with basic cooking needs, including olive oil and salt & pepper
- Coffee & tea provided
- A dedicated side yard with a fire pit and an outdoor dining table
We are very close to the Village of Saxapahaw, but everywhere else will be a drive. Though rural, Uber and Lyft are available!
- No more than one dog allowed.
- Non smoking.
- Please do not access or contact the main house on the property.
- A designated parking spot is across from the FROG, please let me know if you need an additional parking space. Do not park between FROG and main house.
- It does have internet and a booster, but it can still be spotty.
- A/C provided by a window unit, heat by a baseboard heater.
- Smart App TV has Netflix, Amazon Prime TV, and YouTube
- Kayak put in is across the river, either onto the lake or below the dam. The FROG does not have a river put-in.
- To enhance security, this property is equipped with exterior surveillance cameras, solely monitoring outdoor areas without invading your privacy indoors.
